Colour Your World

The Annual (Learn-A-Long) in Crochet.

Come and Join us to add colour to your world – an exciting new crochet journey for competent crocheters to learn even more colour techniques and take your crochet to the next level.

Following on from exploring Pandora’s World of textured stitches last year, our new journey will take us through a world of colour!

Throughout this journey you will learn 6 colour techniques – mosaic, waterfall, tapestry, overlay plus more, in addition to new edging techniques.

We will learn these techniques via making 6 large squares over the course of three months – with live streamed classes every two weeks to introduce and master these techniques.  This will be followed up with a live Q&A session to help you between classes.

The squares can be joined together to create a blanket, or runner, or used individually to create cushions, bags, or feature sections in other projects.

During the classes we will work on a small panel to learn the technique and the various stitches used in the square.  You then have two weeks to master the technique and complete that square and begin your unique creation.

Each square has been designed by 2 local designers – Sharon Morrison of Live Love Crochet Shaz and Lynda Tomkins  of Crochet with Lynda.

Registration for this years’ LAL is $150 and includes:

  • Downloadable PDF patterns with detailed instructions and illustrations for all 6 panels and the joining technique.
  • 6.5 hours of live stream classes delivered via zoom plus optional live Q&A sessions throughout the 3 months.
  • Recordings of each of the live stream sessions so you can replay these between classes or if you miss a session.
  • Private Facebook Group for support, sharing and socialising with other members on this LAL journey with you.
  • Customised yarn packs at special prices to Colour Your World.  You will also receive a tote bag, markers, pen and blocking pins.

All yarn requirements will be emailed to you once you register.  (This may take up to 24 hours.  Please check your spam folder if you can’t see it in your inbox)

The live zoom sessions will be held on Thursdays 6.30pm Brisbane time, beginning Thursday 11th July.  The full details and times for each session will be in your registration email.

We look forward to you joining us on our journey through Colour to create, learn, meet new people and above all have some crochet fun.

Meet the Designers

Sharon Morrison – Live Love Crochet Shaz

Sharon is the Designer and creator of all things Crochet by Live Love Crochet Shaz.

She fell in love with the art of Crochet about 9 years ago when she and her family decided to make a lifestyle change and headed off travelling around Australia.

Her very first design came from her love of VW Kombi Vans where she designed a tissue box cover that looked like a kombi van.

Since then, she has produced around 55 crochet patterns. She doesn’t tend to stay with one technique or design, but likes to try new things and keep it interesting. Her favourite part of Crochet is the creativity side where she can just relax and Cro-doodle. You never know what will fall off her hook next.

Sharon is an accredited crochet teacher  with the Crochet Guild of Australia and has designed a few crochet events for Lynda at Crochet Australia, taught in her workshops and make and take classes at craft events and created patterns for kits at Crochet Australia and for the annual Crochet Tournament.

Sharon’s patterns can be purchased as pdfs from her website – www.livelovecrochetshaz.com.au and printed versions can be purchased from Crochet Australia

Lynda Tomkins – Crochet with Lynda

Lynda is the owner of Crochet Australia and publishes her designs as Crochet with Lynda.

Lynda was taught to crochet by her mother at about the age of 5.  It was just a hobby and a way of winding down until Lynda bought Crochet Australia in 2014.  Lynda went from following patterns to the letter, expanded her skills and developed an ability to adapt patterns and begin designing her own.  She became a ‘Crochet Master’ in 2017 completing the Masters in Advanced Crochet Stitches with the Crochet Guild of America, and then Completed the Crochet Teaching Certification Level 1 and Level 2 with the Yarn Council of America.

Lynda’s designs have been featured at Crochet Australia Crochet Retreats and in classes held at Crochet Australia.  She has also had her designs published in Homespun Crochet Magazine and taught them at the Crochet Guild Conference and other Craft shows.
